Help in identifing Cello |

I'm a newer Cello student looking for information on a Cello that I am (renting to own) through my local music store. A few months ago, I upgraded my
rental to an older Cello that feels and sounds much better than the previous rental. I would like to research this Cello before I decide to spend the $2000
asking price. I live in a rural location, so my options for testing/comparing other instruments is limited. The Cello was purchased and repaired by a Luthier
associated with the music store a couple years ago from a local university when the administration made the decision to replace older instruments. I'm
told that the music department was reluctant to sell but eventually over ruled. The Cello shows it's wear but the warm rich tones it produces was a
significant upgrade. Looking at the label all I see is:

ask people on the forum of Maestronet.com, The pegbox. A few professional lutiers from the States there, they might know.

If I were you I'd contact: Bein and Fushi, Darnton & Hersh, William Harris Lee, A440, Carl Becker, Michael Becker, and Seman Violins. They all have
websites with e-mail contact addresses. These are all Chicago (or Chicago area) dealers/ luthiers who have been around a while. There are people there who
know.
Good luck, Robin
