We meet one evening a week for about 6 weeks, rehearse for two hours with a cookie break, and give a final casual performance. Sometimes
members team up outside of the choir to prepare duos or quartets. Not only has it been fun cello-wise, but it gives an opportunity for
players who have been to chamber music camps and cello camps, studying with other teachers, looking at colleges or conservatories
to share information and ask questions. Mentoring without message boards, the old-fashioned way. Two people were missing this week due
to chamber camp so I'm anxious to hear their reports.
Initially there was one choir but because the music that covered the broadest span of abilities is more limited, there are now two choirs with
more skill-appropriate selections for each. People keep arranging more ensembles and we keep playing 'em. We had a mom/son that used
to share a stand. This is the first year my two cellists have jobs that prevent them from participating {sniff}.
Lots of warmth and camaraderie and another opportunity to get grounded in where we are, see in others where we've been and where we hope to be.
