I'm an adult beginner into my third year of cello lessons, still reaching for intermediate level stuff (proper bowing is such a struggle). I have a super cheap cello I bought on Amazon for $200 (my choice is a cheap instrument with lessons -or- a nice instrument and no lessons). As with any cheapo instrument, I understand they can actually be more difficult to play than a higher quality one. I'm considering asking for an electric cello for Christmas (again, cheapo) with the hope it may be easier to play. I also play electric bass, if this makes any difference. Yes? No?
It has been suggested to me I consider doing a rent-to-own higher quality cello so I can see if a nicer one plays easier without all the up front commitment.
Any thoughts about both options would be welcome. Thanks.
