The issue of teaching comes up in Dave's blog comments (not the Huffington Post version, but his wordpress.com version: http://davidbeem.wordpres...sh-your-local-orchestra/ ). I commented on my own reservations about teaching given the climate for career prospects.

Next Thursday I'm actually going to be presenting a talk and Q & A to music majors in a Music Entrepreneurship course (titled: "How I got from where you are to where I am now") which is something I occasionally do when I get some free time. Since my "freelance" experience is different than most musicians' (as I turn down more gigs than accept anymore) I don't feel like I have to pull any punches about the changing landscape of music making and a possible sustainable living while doing so.
