I don't have an answer, I'm just trying to visualize the problem based on your description.

I found this side view of a female cellist with very small measurements and marked it up.

The blue line represents her current chest contour and the green is the current location of the fingerboard.

If she had larger breasts (yellow contour) would that put the fingerboard out at the purple line? Or am I completely misunderstanding the problem?
