When I joined my first real orchestra (part time) the music director was totally nuts about composers (or editors) who marked a "forte" over every part.  At least once a season we'd get the extended lecture about how every part could not be forte.
Tell him that that is the composer trusting the conductor to better know the relative strengths of his particular ensemble than the composer can and to thank the composer for not trying to micro-manage his rehearsal from half a world and two hundred years away with a half dozen different dynamic markings in each measure.
