The newer, souped-up Superior iteration of Jargar medium is a nice, reliable, long-lasting and economical A-string. The forte gauge sounds a bit darker on my cello, which I like, but I'd usually start with medium unless your cello tends towards bright. The Superior D is less to my liking; I find that it doesn't match the timbre of the A very well because it is a little softer, darker, smooth and subdued and that also doesn't make a nice transition to the G. So for the D I use something else, which right now is a Kaplan Solution.
