I am currently looking for the SVC 110 or 100, I'm thinking of buying a used one for night practice or just having fun with effects etc. I'm working as a cellist and want something I can use to practice orchestra or chamber music parts on, learning the notes of a piece basically. I am thinking that a Yamaha silent cello with some kind of cello like shape would suit me as they have kind of the same feeling as an acoustic cello, at least for the left hand. Is Yamaha the best choice? I have seen that there are many cheaper alternatives.
Anyway, I found a used svc 100 for sale not far from where I live, but don't know if the price is fair. He wants at least 15.000 SEK (1.700$) for the cello. It was bought 13 years ago, has not been used much, seems to be in good condition except for the tailpiece that needs to be changed, no soft case is included and the strings needs to be changed. Normally, when buying a new cello I wouldn't care about stuff like that but when buying a new Yamaha all those things are included plus a warranty. If I have to buy these things to be able to use the cello it adds maybe 400 $ to the cost I guess.
Long post... but is this an ok price, if not: what is a resonable price for this model?
