I've had a case for my cello for quite a few years now, it's held up pretty well but the only problem is that it is extremely heavy to hold, and there's no way I'd carry it on my back D:
I'm looking at buying a new case, one that is easier to carry around, but still sturdy, as I will be taking my cello on public transport a lot next year due to starting uni and joining my city's youth orchestra (eek!)
I'm tossing up between:
The Musilia S2 - very light, about 2.9kg I think? Easy to take in and out, the latches are a bit funny to work but the main thing is that it has no wheels. And;
The BAM hightech 3.5 (2.9 is much too expensive for me haha) - seems pretty strong, a bit finnicky on the inside, a bit more bulky than the Musilia and also heavier, BUT it has wheels. I think it's also a bit more expensive.
My main question - are wheels important when you're lugging your cello around all day? Originally I thought that because the Musilia is lighter I would do most of the carrying by hand/back, but come to think of it there will need to be times where it'd be much more convenient to wheel. Is it worth compromising weight/price/easyness to pack and unpack for a set of wheels? This case will be an investment for me so I'm hoping to make the right decision..
Also open to any other suggestions you may have or case models. I'm in a bit of a pickle!
