My dear sweet Dad passed away in late September. It was sudden--the doc thinks he might have had swine flu, which can act very quickly. Hi Gang !

Found this collection of doggie Halloween costumes on Yahoo and thought I'd share. Some of these pooches are amazingly patient from the looks of things. Their get-ups are a lot more involved than any I've put on Winston and Napoleon, that is for sure.

Just took out King Korn form the video store. I found it quite a good film. It is actually better than Food Inc. Same general ideas but it is much more coherent as the film makers were not following a book. They show that corn is not profitable to produce and that corn farmers are dependent on government subsidies.
Corn farmers don't even produce their own food. We learn that cows are better off if they eat grass but the beef industry raises cows in giant feed lots where they...

Pittsburgh to Toronto in January

My daughter is a real musical theatre buff, and she would like to go to Toronto in January to see Rent. This is a very reasonable drive in good weather and only takes about 5 hours. Are we crazy to consider this drive through the snowbelt in January ?

Flights are close to $600 per person round trip, so this is a bit steep for one night.

Anyone have a Kindle reader?

I've been thinking of getting one. The price has dropped to $259 which is starting to get attractive, but I'm curious as to who uses one and if the novelty fades.

Firstly, let me say that I am very confident that there are many, many women out there who watch baseball because they are truly in love with the game itself...

I'll be honest....I'm not one of them.

I mean I do watch on occasion...or rather I used to. Not specifically for the love of the game. It has likely been a year or two since I have.

Anyway, I tuned in to the World Series tonight for a few minutes, and was *so* taken aback. ...

Heya, So i'm going to Paris for the weekend (I live in London) and have never been before. I'm flying in to CDG and staying at a place close to Gard De Nord. My question is regarding transportation from the airport to my destination (i'd be going from zone 5 to zone 1). Do they have something similar to an Oyster card? Or do I have to spend £50 for a ParisVisite card? I'd rather just put like 20euros on a travel card and use that for my trip. Any suggestions?
